KELSUNG PRODUCTIONS

11/11/4

Veteran's Day. I guess in our politically correct and post 9/11 world, we've changed our levels of respect. Columbus Day used to be a day off from school, but they stopped that a couple years ago. I guess we quit honoring the delusional European who thought he had found the Orient, when in reality he was just bringing the first wave of disease and slaughter to a bunch of natives. Meanwhile, Veteran's Day usually got observed on a Monday, but this year school is out on the actual Thursday on which it falls, and Friday as well, making it a four-day weekend on par with Thanksgiving later this same month! I believe we're back to splitting up Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays, too, rather than President's Day, which should make Homer Simpson very happy.

So I get to spend my two days off along with my kids. I think I'll force some evil exercise on them, rather that let them veg on the TV and Nintendo the whole time. Imagine, sunshine and air! I'm such a cruel parent!

Speaking of kids, the guitarist's wife is due with their third son in less than two weeks, so The Band I work with is on hiatus. My little side-project band has also been stalled for some time now, primarily since my partner in crime (we're a two-piece plus whoever we can get to show up) got a new girlfriend upon which he spends all his free time. Which sucks, because after the Halloween clean-up, the garage is in great shape. I've got a potential bassist/guitarist now, too, who's nearby, available and interested. I've just gotta get all three of us in the room. It's a good thing we only intended this for some fun on the side, because everytime we seem to be getting somewhere, we have a ridiculous set-back.

I think I'm gonna take back down the tarp I hung on poles out on the patio. It doesn't really accomplish much, and my wife thought it looked pretty white-trash from the moment I did it. It's not like we actually use the patio anymore, since it's become cat-crap central. In human years, that cat is over 100, so we've passed any kind of training. Her one eye is bad (thanks to a fight with a younger neighbor cat), I think she's going deaf, she's thin as a rail although well fed, and she craps wherever the hell she pleases (including one particular corner here in the house.) And all the neighbor cats fight with her at night, and I think they're crapping over here, too, probably to stake out dominance and territory.

Anyhow, I need to get some breakfast in me (yes, I'm typing in the morning rather than my usual late-night) before I get an expected phone call from a co-worker who wants me to make him a classic-rock mix CD on the computer today. Or we'll probably play some family card or board games before my wife goes to work.
